AGZ Ventures LLC (“AGZ Ventures,” “Kidney Companion,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Kidney Companion mobile application, website, and related services.

Kidney Companion is designed to help users understand and track kidney-conscious nutrition. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we retain it, and the choices available to you.

Kidney Companion handles health- and nutrition-related information that may be sensitive. We take the privacy of this information seriously.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Kidney Companion, we may collect the following categories of information.

Account and Contact Information

When you create or use an account, we may collect information such as:

• Email address
• Account identifiers
• Information you provide when contacting customer support
• Date of birth or age information used to determine age eligibility and present age-appropriate notices

Health, Nutrition, and Profile Information

Kidney Companion may collect information that you voluntarily enter or generate while using the service, including:

• Weight
• Kidney disease stage or other kidney-related profile information you choose to provide
• Dietary preferences
• Food and meal information
• Nutrition logs
• Nutrient targets and tracked nutrients, including sodium, potassium, phosphorus, protein, and related nutritional information
• Survey responses
• Other health- or nutrition-related information that you choose to provide

This information may be considered sensitive health information.

Food Images and Information Submitted for Analysis

If you choose to use Kidney Companion's image-analysis features, you may submit photographs of food or meals.

These images may be transmitted securely to third-party artificial-intelligence service providers for the purpose of identifying foods and estimating nutritional information.

Kidney Companion does not intentionally retain submitted food images in its application database after they are processed for the requested analysis. Third-party service providers may temporarily process or retain information in accordance with their own service terms, security practices, and applicable agreements.

You are not required to use the image-analysis feature to use all Kidney Companion features.

Technical Information

Kidney Companion does not intentionally collect analytics about how you use the app for advertising or behavioral profiling. Certain basic technical information may be processed automatically by our hosting, infrastructure, app-store, or service providers as necessary to deliver, secure, and maintain the Service.

We do not use health information for targeted advertising.

Future Paid Features and Transaction Information

Kidney Companion is currently available without a paid subscription, and we do not currently charge users for access to the Service.

We may introduce optional paid subscriptions or other paid features in the future. If you purchase a paid feature in the future through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or another authorized application marketplace or payment platform, payment processing will be handled by the applicable platform.

AGZ Ventures LLC will not receive or store your complete payment-card number through those transactions. We may receive information such as subscription status, product purchased, transaction status, or other information necessary to provide and manage paid features.

Push Notifications

With your permission, Kidney Companion may send push notifications, reminders, or service-related messages, such as nutrition-tracking reminders, account notices, or important updates about the Service.

To provide push notifications, Kidney Companion or its service providers may process a device notification token and your notification preferences. We use this information only to deliver and manage notifications and related Service communications.

You can control or disable push notifications at any time through your device settings. Disabling push notifications will not prevent you from using other available Kidney Companion features.

2. How We Use Information

We use information collected through Kidney Companion to:

• Create and maintain user accounts
• Provide Kidney Companion's nutrition tracking and analysis features
• Generate nutrition estimates and explanations
• Personalize features based on information you choose to provide
• Track nutrition information and user-selected nutrient targets
• Process food images and food descriptions that you submit for analysis
• If paid features are introduced, provide and manage purchases and subscriptions
• Respond to support requests
• Maintain the security and integrity of the service
• Detect, investigate, or prevent misuse, fraud, or technical problems
• Comply with applicable legal obligations
• Protect the rights, safety, and security of users, AGZ Ventures LLC, and others
• Determine whether a user meets Kidney Companion's minimum age requirement and present age-appropriate notices
• Send push notifications, reminders, account notices, and other Service-related communications when enabled

We do not sell your personal information or health-related information.

We do not use health-related information for advertising, credit eligibility, insurance eligibility, employment decisions, or data-broker activities.

3. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Analysis

Kidney Companion uses artificial-intelligence technology to support certain features, including analysis of foods, food descriptions, and food images and the generation of nutrition-related information.

When you use these features, information necessary to respond to your request may be transmitted to an artificial-intelligence service provider. This may include:

• A food name or description
• A photograph you choose to submit
• Nutritional context relevant to the requested analysis
• Other information necessary to generate the requested result

Kidney Companion currently uses OpenAI technology for certain artificial-intelligence functions.

We limit information transmitted to service providers to information reasonably necessary to provide the requested feature. We do not intentionally send your account password or complete payment information to artificial-intelligence providers.

Artificial-intelligence output can be inaccurate or incomplete. Kidney Companion's AI-generated information should not be relied upon as a diagnosis, treatment recommendation, or substitute for professional medical advice.

4. Nutrition Data Services

Kidney Companion may use third-party nutrition databases and data services, including USDA FoodData Central, to identify foods and provide nutritional information.

Information necessary to perform a nutrition lookup may be transmitted to these services. Kidney Companion may also use artificial-intelligence analysis when appropriate nutrition information cannot otherwise be identified or when a user requests an AI-supported feature.

5. Service Providers and Sharing of Information

We use third-party companies and services to help operate Kidney Companion. These providers may process information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf or as otherwise permitted by applicable law and their agreements with us.

Supabase

We use Supabase for backend infrastructure, which may include account authentication, databases, application functions, and storage of information associated with Kidney Companion accounts.

OpenAI

We use OpenAI technology for certain artificial-intelligence features, including food and nutrition analysis. Information submitted for an AI-supported feature may be transmitted to OpenAI for processing.

OpenAI states that data submitted through its API platform is not used to train its models by default, subject to the applicable account configuration and service terms.

USDA FoodData Central

We may use USDA FoodData Central to retrieve nutritional information about foods.

Apple and Google

Apple and Google may process application-distribution, device, and account information when you download or use Kidney Companion. If paid features are introduced in the future, the applicable app store may also process subscription, payment, and transaction information.

We may also disclose information:

• When required by law, court order, subpoena, or other lawful process
• When reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, security incidents, or violations of our terms
• To protect the safety, rights, or property of AGZ Ventures LLC, our users, or others
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, sale, restructuring, or similar business transaction, subject to applicable privacy requirements

We do not sell personal or health-related information to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.

6. Health Information

Kidney Companion may process information concerning nutrition, weight, kidney-related preferences or status, and other health-related information voluntarily provided by users.

We use this information only for purposes related to providing, personalizing, securing, and improving Kidney Companion and as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy.

Kidney Companion is an informational and nutritional support tool. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition and is not a substitute for the advice of a physician, registered dietitian, nephrologist, or other qualified healthcare professional.

Do not disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking medical care because of information provided by Kidney Companion.

If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact appropriate emergency medical services.

7. Data Storage and Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal and sensitive information.

Information transmitted between Kidney Companion, our servers, and service providers is transmitted using encrypted connections such as HTTPS/TLS where supported and appropriate.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Kidney Companion, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, maintain security, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.

In general:

• Account information may be retained while your account remains active.
• Health, nutrition, profile, and food-log information associated with your account may be retained while your account remains active unless you delete applicable information or request account deletion.
• Food photographs submitted for analysis are not intentionally retained in Kidney Companion's application database after the requested image analysis has been completed.
• If paid features are introduced, subscription and transaction records may be retained as necessary for accounting, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
• Limited technical, security, or transaction records may be retained after account deletion where reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, legal compliance, security, or the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we delete, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of it as appropriate.

9. Account and Data Deletion

A readily accessible account-deletion option is available within Kidney Companion. This action is irreversible.

If you cannot access the app, you can also review our Delete Account page to request account deletion.

When an account is deleted, we delete or de-identify personal information associated with that account unless limited retention is reasonably necessary for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or another legitimate purpose permitted by law.

Deleting the Kidney Companion application from your device does not automatically delete your account. You must use the account-deletion function or submit a deletion request.

If paid subscriptions are introduced in the future, deleting your Kidney Companion account or deleting the app may not automatically cancel a subscription maintained by Apple, Google, or another payment platform. You should manage or cancel any such subscription through the applicable platform account settings.

10. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide rights concerning your personal information, including rights to:

• Request access to information we maintain about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information
• Obtain information about how your information is used or disclosed
• Exercise other privacy rights provided by applicable law

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.

11. Children's and Teen Privacy

Kidney Companion is intended for individuals age 13 and older. Individuals under 13 may not create an account, use the Service, or submit personal or health-related information through Kidney Companion.

We may collect date-of-birth or age information to determine whether a user meets the minimum age requirement and to present age-appropriate notices. Users ages 13 through 17 may be shown an acknowledgement encouraging them to review Kidney Companion and health-related decisions with a parent or legal guardian and a qualified healthcare professional before continuing.

Where applicable law requires parental or guardian consent or other authorization, we will seek that consent or authorization before collecting or using information in a manner that requires it.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 in violation of applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information and, where appropriate, the associated account.

12. International Users

Kidney Companion and its service providers may process information in the United States and other locations where our service providers operate.

If you use Kidney Companion from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

Where required, we take reasonable measures designed to provide appropriate protection for transferred information.

13. Third-Party Services and Links

Kidney Companion may contain links to third-party websites, services, or resources.

This Privacy Policy does not govern third-party services that operate independently from AGZ Ventures LLC. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies and terms.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Kidney Companion changes, our service providers change, or legal and platform requirements evolve.

When we make changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If required by applicable law, we may provide additional notice of material changes.

Your continued use of Kidney Companion after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective is subject to the updated policy to the extent permitted by law.
